LeRoy Russell Olsen, 75, Warsaw, passed away at 10:36 a.m. May 20, 2015, at his residence from his battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., to Doris Lindquist and Russell Olsen. On Feb. 14, 2004, he married Wanda Plank, who survives. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the special operations unit. He worked for Brown & Root, which took him to many foreign countries including Saudi Arabia, Guatemala, Taiwan and Scotland in addition to working on the Alaskan pipeline. He loved fishing, especially in the Gulf of Mexico, reading, watching football and NASCAR. His favorite driver was Tony Stewart. He enjoyed living in Texas and was not fond of Indiana winters. Also surviving are four children: Glenna, Lisa, Jennifer and Lee Edward Olsen, all of Sarasota, Fla; three stepchildren: Sonia DeGaetano, Kathy Buckheit and Lori (and spouse Mike) Morel, all of Warsaw; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister and a brother, both in Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Services will be at a later date.
