The 2011 Author Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Taharaa Room of Noa Noa Restaurant.
Dr. Elliot Engel will speak on “Leonardo da Vinci – Before the Code.”
Engel encompasses the breadth and depth of Leonardo’s unique genius including the causes of his many unfinished masterpieces and the mystery of Mona Lisa’s smile. Engel combines education and entertainment.
Leonardo’s illustrations of parachutes and flying machines resemble inventions of the 19th and 20th centuries. His detailed drawings of human anatomy remain highly regarded. Leonardo (1452–1519) wrote notebooks in mirror image script keeping many of his observations widely unknown until decades after his death.
