NAPPANEE – Leona Miller, 89, of Nappanee, died at 11:12 a.m. Dec. 25, 2012, in LuAnn Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Kosciusko County to David J. and Barbara Hochstetler Miller. On Nov. 8, 1942, in Marshall County, she married Harvey Miller, who survives.
She had lived her lifetime in the area. She was a homemaker and she cooked at LuAnn Nursing Home for 9 years. She also worked at Wayside Restaurant, Nappanee. She was a member of North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee.
Also surviving are children, Etta Fern (and spouse Wayne) Risser, Wayne Alan (and spouse Brenda) Miller, and Larry Lee (and spouse Cyndy) Miller, all of Elkhart; Rosa Elaine Newbry, Goshen, Viola Miller, Nappanee,  and Lanadell (and spouse Carl) Helmuth, Adair, Okla., and Joyce Evans, Sherri Lynne (and spouse Merle) Alderman, and Rhonda Ann (and spouse Jim) Bellman, all of Nappanee; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Sylvanus (and spouse Mary) Miller, Nappanee, Lester (and spouse Mary Esther) Miller, Middlebury, and Homer (and spouse Freda) Miller, Nappanee; two sisters, Linda Mae Miller, Clara (and spouse Lamar) Hershberger, and Verba (and spouse Lonnie) Slabaugh, all of Nappanee. She was preceded in death by a son; two brothers; and one sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee, with Carl Helmuth and the Rev. Ruben Chupp officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the funeral service.
