ALEXANDRIA – Leo Dale “Dale” Blacklidge, 93, of Apollo Beach, Fla., died Sept. 1, 2013, at his residence.
He was married for 54 years to Charmion, who preceded him in death in 2000.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army during the Battle of Buna and Papuan Campaign. He was retired from Zimmer/Bristol Meyer, Warsaw, and lived in Apollo Beach since 1984.
He is survived by his daughter, Charma (and spouse Ron) Owens; granddaughters, Amy (and spouse Rick) O’Hara, and Kristina Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Brittany Owens, Andrew O’Hara and Logan Hoffman, all of Apollo Beach; and companion’s children, Rita Bauman, Rick, Jerry and Terry West. He was preceded in death by his companion of 10 years, Doris Tilghman, who died in March 2013.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Alexandria, with Michael W. Owens officiating.
Owens Funeral Home, Alexandria, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
