Lena Pearl Spangle, 92, of 400 W. Seventh St., North Manchester, and formerly of Claypool, died at 8:24 p.m. Jan. 30, 2009, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
She was born Feb. 12, 1916, in Noble County, to Arthur E. and Myrtle Squire gunter. On April 20, 1934, she married Joe Earl Spangle, who died June 21, 2007.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was a homemaker and a member of Silver Lake Wesleyan Church, Silver Lake.
Surviving are three daughters: Shirley (and spouse Delbert) Hudson, Solsberry; Judy (and spouse Roger) Weaver, Indianapolis; and Cathy (and spouse Perk) Persinger, Chillicothe, Ohio; six sons: Duane E. (and spouse Becky) Spangle and Eldon R. (and spouse Arvada) Spangle, all of Claypool; John R. (and spouse Anita) Spangle, Argos; and Ralph A. (and spouse Diane) Spangle, Michael W. (and spouse Teresa) Spangle and Dwight (and spouse Nancy) Spangle, all of Warsaw; a daughter-in-law, Evaline Spangle, South Whitley; 42 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Spangle, Silver Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, a son, Larry J. Spangle, and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with the Rev. Russell Spangle officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
