ELKHART – Lela E. Weikel, 88, West Franklin Street, Elkhart, passed away Nov. 25, 2013, at Riverside Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart. She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Syracuse, to Peter and Alma Stuckman Plew. On June 3, 1944, in Mishawaka, she married George W. Weikel, who preceded her in death. She was an avid gardener and nature lover along with being a devoted wife and mother. Surviving are three children: Janet Eberhart, South Bend; Jerry L. (and spouse Brenda) Weikel, Noblesville; and Cathy Minne, Elkhart; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Calling will be from noon to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
