LEESBURG - In a special meeting that lasted approximately five minutes Monday, the Leesburg Town Council terminated a long-time employee.

The employment of Ed Riordan, who has served as the street commissioner in Leesburg since 1994, was terminated during the short meeting Monday night.

After approving the agenda for the meeting, the council approved a motion to terminate Riordan's employment with a 3-0 vote. Tom Moore made the motion to terminate and Doug Jones seconded.

There was no discussion and no reason given for the termination. No replacement for Riordan, 66, has been named, but the town will be accepting resumes and applications for the position.

Resumes may be sent to P.O. Box 372, Leesburg, IN 46538. Applications may be picked up at the town office. According to the board, anyone who submits a resume must also submit an application for the position.

Riordan is the latest in a wave of changes in Leesburg.

With the exception of Council President Rick Stookey, every member of the governing board of Leesburg has changed since March. Council members Jay Weaver and Ryan Robinson resigned in March, and Moore and Jones were named as their replacements by Republican Committeeman Harold Jones, who is Doug Jones's father, in a caucus.

Clerk-treasurer Melissa Robinson resigned in April, and Jan Carter was named to the position by Harold Jones in a caucus in May.
