LEESBURG – Town of Leesburg board president Douglas Jones expressed thanks to Jan Carter Monday evening after she resigned from her clerk-treasurer position. Carter resigned as clerk-treasurer last week due to health reasons. In new business, Fred Helfrich of the Kosciusko County Velo Cycling Club presented a sign for CR 675N from the west into Leesburg. He asked permission of the board for the county to install the sign. The board accepted the donation of the sign. In other new business, the subject of parking on public walkways came up, after a mop-ed and bicycle parked on sidewalks. Neither the state nor county have an ordinance prohibiting this, the board heard. Members agreed they see no need to create an ordinance at this time. In old news, it was discovered that the town ordinance states water bills are due on the 15th of the month, though under longstanding policy they are due on the 29th of each month. The board dicussed changing the ordinance instead of the due date to avoid confusion. No motion was finalized. The board also announced the Memorial Day Parade on May 27 at 10:30 a.m. The board next meets June 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.
