ORDINANCE NO. 2017-1 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS WITHIN THE TOWN OF LEESBURG, INDIANA, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF WHEREAS, The Town of Council of the Town of Leesburg, Indiana, has conducted a traffic study and has determined that it is in the best interest of the health and safety of the citizens of the Town of Leesburg to establish speed limits in the Town of Leesburg. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LEESBURG, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate a motor vehicle in the Town of Leesburg at a speed in excess of twenty-five (25) miles per hour. Section 2. As used herein the term "motor vehicle" means a vehicle that is self-propelled, including motorcycles. Section 3. Any person who violates the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine in an amount of not less than $25.00 and not more than $200.00 Section 4. This Ordinance shall not apply to State Road 15 in the Town of Leesburg, Indiana. Section 5. This Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage.
