Leesburg Sewer Project A Bit Behind Schedule

Posted
LEESBURG - Progress on the Leesburg sewer project is a little behind schedule, but engineers are not concerned at this point.

Jay Tierney, representative for GRW Engineering, told the Leesburg Town Council Monday that the project is about 64 percent billed, which is a little behind schedule.

Due to cold weather and snowy conditions, the construction company working on the project has been delayed and recently asked for an extension on the completion date.

The contractor said that the equipment is not as efficient in bad weather and wanted to push the completion date back.

The Leesburg Town Council will consider an extension, and negotiations are ongoing.

The project originally was scheduled to be substantially complete March 23. If the extension is granted, that date will be moved.

The next progress meeting for the sewer project will be March 9 at 2:30 p.m. The next town council meeting will be March 9 at 6:30 p.m.
