For those of you with questions about your sewer bills, begin attending the town meetings. They are held the second Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the town hall. They are free and open to the public, and I am sure that the board members will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Also, if you had been attending town meetings, maybe you would already have your answers. The reason that you have to pay a bill now is because construction on the sewers has begun. The town needs some sort of income to pay the company installing the sewers. The $73 bill this month was a double bill. The normal monthly rate until March will be half of that, or $36.50.
As reported in a recent article about the town in the Times-Union, there will be a drop box at the town hall for reception of payments.
One other thing, the state mandated sewers be installed. This issue could have been solved many years ago with a completely different town board, but it was not. So in interest of keeping the town incorporated, this town board decided to take action and stop procrastinating. That sounds like leadership to me. If any Leesburg residents would like their voice to be heard and aid in their town's leadership, then they can come to the town meetings.
