Posted

LEESBURG - The Leesburg Town Board met Monday for its regular monthly meeting.

Julia Graham, GRW Engineers, provided an update on activities relating to the Leesburg sewer system: Agreement has been reached with NIPSCO to provide the town with electricity for the grinder pumps; property easements need to be finalized; and the differences between rates for residence, businesses and churches is being addressed.

In other business, it was reported that complaints have been received about the condition of some of the properties in Leesburg. The council emphasized the need for improved upkeep of all properties.

The meeting then adjourned to the street department's garage area to view a model of the grinder pumps to be used with the new Leesburg sewer system. Following an overview, a question-and-answer session was conducted by representatives of E/One Sewer Systems Inc., Bob Jordan and Tim Setser.

The E/One grinder pumps already are in use in Shadow Lakes and Eagle Crest housing additions in the Warsaw area.

The next meeting will be Sept. 11 at the town hall.

Representing Leesburg were: board members Ryan Robinson, Stookey and Jay Weaver; Vern Landis, town attorney; and Melissa Robinson, secretary.
