LEESBURG - A group of Leesburg residents have banded together to get a town tradition back to its grander days.
The Leesburg Luminaria will be held Saturday starting at 6 p.m.
There will be a party at the old fire station in downtown Leesburg.
Cookies, candy and hot drinks will be available and kids can visit with Santa to get last minute gift requests in.
There will also be Christmas caroling.
According to Leesburg resident Christian Archer, a group of people got together and hoped to make the event like it was in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Funding for the luminaria comes from a memorial fund set up by Betty Clover..
Clover, who died in 2006, was a long-time Leesburg resident who along with setting up a fund for the Luminaria also built a park named after her in Leesburg.
Clover Park was completed in 2006.
"She loved the luminaria so much," said Archer.
While the event is set for Saturday, volunteers are asked to help make the luminarias tonight at the old fire station at 5 p.m.
