Leesburg Man Dies After Suffering Medical Issue While DrivingA Leesburg man is dead after suffering a medical issue prior to a Monday night crash.

James S. Gall, 91, was taken to a Warsaw hospital after the crash where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. According to the release, Kosciusko County Coroner Anthony Ciriello said Gall suffered a “medical event” immediately prior to the collision.

The accident occurred at 7 p.m. Monday in the 3500 block of North CR 400E in Plain Township.

The 911 Communications Center received a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a residence at 7 p.m. Monday. An initial arriving deputy sheriff was able to force entry into the vehicle, a Cadillac Fleetwood, so that medical personnel could tend to Gall, the release states.

The preliminary results of the ongoing investigation, conducted by the KCSO Fatal Team, indicate Gall was traveling north on CR 400E prior to the collision. The vehicle left the west side of the road, hit a fence and came to a rest against the south side of the unoccupied home. The crash did cause structural damage to the house.

Gall was then taken to the hospital.

Responding agencies included the KCSO, North Webster and Pierceton police departments, North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Coroner’s Office.
