Good letter, Derek Weaver.

Sally Goon, nice response.

Mr. Ellis, I would like to respond to your letter to the editor on Sept. 5 concerning Leesburg leadership: I appreciate your opinion in any forum that you choose to express it. However, I would like to reply to a few comments that concern me - All of the board members have full time jobs and families.

You've brought special attention to the "husband and wife." The wife works part time outside of the home and part time for the town of Leesburg as clerk-treasurer, she is a full-time mother and wife. The husband has a full-time job and owns his business; he serves as a board member, a volunteer fireman and he is a full-time father and husband. I know these people; I find them of good character and hard working.

My point is, we have to be careful with our words. The Times-Union is not only a local news paper it is a regional, state and a national newspaper. I know for a fact that the Times-Union is sent to some of our troops over seas. There was a letter to the editor published in the Times-Union on Sept 5 from San Diego, Calif. If we keep this dark cloud over Leesburg and keep making discouraging comments about this great little town, who is going to want move here or visit?

Rick, I have a request of you. Attend the next board meeting (they are held the second Monday of each month at 6:30.) Better yet, bring a concern and a solution to your concern so that it can be discussed along with the other townspeople that attend, as well as the board. The two entities working together is what defines leadership. Rick, hopefully I have painted a pretty clear picture of how I feel, hopefully you will want come to help make our town better.
