The Lee Anne Stewart Fusion Dance Team competitors attended classes at the Chicago Dance America Competition and Dance Olympus Convention.
The team was awarded with two first-place trophies, a second-place trophy and a special award for Best Emotional Execution.
Dancers, including 18 Lee Anne Stewart dancers, arrived in Chicago from around the region to take classes from nationally recognized instructors in ballet, hip hop, tap, jazz, lyrical and contemporary dance styles. While new choreography and proper dance technique is a primary focus during the workshop, the dancers also learned about the importance of proper nutrition, stretching and strengthening.
The Lee Anne Stewart Fusion Dance competitors have been taking dance classes at the Nappanee and Syracuse dance schools and attending extra rehearsals each week from August through February in preparation for the regional competition. Their hard work will continue as they now prepare for the Dance America National Competition Finals in July.
The Fusion dance competitors and all other Lee Anne Stewart dancers will be performing in Back to School, this year's annual dance school production, to be held at the Warsaw High School Performing Arts Center June 11 and 12, and June 17, 18 and 19. Tickets are just $8.50 each and may be purchased at the door or by calling 877-658-9875.
