The Lee Anne Stewart Dance Schools recently received seven awards at the 2008 Chicago competition of Dance Olympus/Dance America.

Two teachers, 27 students and a group of parents traveled to the convention where students took classes in jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, and ballet, as well as competed in the regional competition.

Winning at the regional level gave the Stewart Dance Schools an opportunity to take all seven of the competing routines to the summer national competition at Disney World in Orlando.

Winning first-place awards were a Junior Small Group Jazz routine to "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine," an Intermediate Line Open routine to "The Man With The Hex," and a Senior Small Group Modern Routine to "Be Prepared."

Receiving second-place awards were "Song of King Pharaoh" in the Junior Small Group Musical Theatre division, "Batdance" in the Senior Small Group tap division, "We Didn't Start The Fire" in the Senior Large Group Jazz division and "Rough Tough Burly Sailors" in the Senior Large Group Musical Theatre division. All seven of these national-qualifying routines were choreographed by Lee Anne and Meghann Stewart.
