Lee Ann Brown Runs for County Council

Lee Ann Brown has always had an interest in politics, but it took someone asking her to run for Kosciusko County Council for her to run.

Brown announced she would run for county council in mid February after being asked to run as a Democrat.

One of the reasons Brown decided to run was to offer more diversity among candidates.

“I wanted to offer more choices,” Brown said. “Some people do not see a point in voting for the same people. There is no choice.”

If she was elected to the council she would like to focus on saving the county money and bringing in jobs.

“Whitley County has been improving job wise,” Brown said. “We are not doing that. It is time to diversify.”

Brown also said that the snow plowing is contracted out and it has been causing problems because of that.

Brown said she brings passion and decision-making skills to the table when running for office.

“I look at a situation and think of the practicalities,” Brown said. “I make decisions based on how it would improve the county.”

Brown is a 1995 graduate of Columbia City High School and plans to go back to Ivy Tech to get her secondary education degree with a concentration in social studies.

When asked why now was the time to run, she replied, “We have had people in office for awhile and we need a chance to do more. They have been OK with where they are and have stopped running and putting effort into their campaigns, when that happens things go by the way side.”
