Leaving The Scene

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
OK, I really don’t understand the way the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. is thinking.
They just arrested a guy for hitting two utility poles, and then leaving the scene. Ya, I agree that should have happened, but why hasn’t anyone been arrested in the accident that happened on April 9, 2011, by South Shore Golf Course, that left one man in a coma, and two people left the scene of that accident, and left this man in the car to die?
I don't understand why these two people are walking the streets, and Zac is still in the hospital, trying to heal from the injuries he received in this horrible accident?
I thought leaving the scene was against the law? I thought not having insurance on your car was against the law? I thought drinking and driving was against the law? Leaving your “friend” in a car to die is against the law, not to mention sick, and in God’s eyes, a sin.
What is going on, Mr. Sheriff? Why hasn’t justice prevailed yet for this family? Why are you dragging your feet on this? If your waiting to see how Zac comes through this, well let me tell you, Zac was in a coma. Zac was on a breathing machine. Zac broke several bones in his body that had to be screwed and bolted and pinned back together, rods placed in his legs, and a feeding tube in his stomach, a trach in his throat, and brain damage that may or may not ever heal.
What more info do you need? You know Zac had not been drinking, just was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m sure his mother, bless her heart, would give you more morbid details on his injuries, because she never left his side, if needed.
So for a lot of us that don’t understand what the holdup is on charges being filed, could you please fill us in? I thought breaking the law was against the law? So far no one has been arrested. What is that suppose to tell people? That no one should be held accountable for this tragedy? That people can just run off from a personal injury accident, and not be held accountable?
If I remember right, and I’m sure it showed this in the picture in the Times-Union, that this driver also hit a pole, so even though someone’s life was almost lost that night, so was a precious pole. A request for a response is now in your hands, everyone is waiting.
