Mrs. Klepinger’s functional skills class at Pierceton Elementary recently went on a community trip to McDonalds.
On this trip, students were able to practice ordering food, paying with money, finding necessary materials needed to eat (straws, napkins, etc.), finding a table, using manners while eating, throwing away trash and finding public restrooms. These trips allow students to practice necessary functional skills needed to be independent.
Klepinger’s class will take more community trips throughout the year where they will go to the movie theater, swimming, bowling and horseback riding. Pictured is fifth-grade student Jordan Minnick receiving change from his order.
