AKRON – The Akron Area Arts League is offering four different art camps throughout the area this summer. The activities will be designed for students who will have completed first through fifth grades. Thanks to a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission through the League’s regional partner, St. Joseph County Community Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal program, these camps can be offered to the students in our area at a cost of $25 per student and includes all materials, according to a press release provided. Each camp will run Monday through Thursday and will offer art experiences in various mediums. The first camp is scheduled in North Manchester June 15 to 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. Manchester University Associate Professor of Art Ejenobo Oke will teach. From June 22 to 25, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sandi Scheaffer, art teacher with the Rochester Community School Corp., will teach in Mentone. On July 6 to 9, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Brenda Ramseier, retired art teacher and professional artist, will teach in Akron. The art camp in Rochester, July 27 to 30, will be aught by Lindsey Kozubik, art teacher with the Logansport School Corp. All students must pre-register and class size is limited.
