SOUTH BEND – Josh McDaniel hit the game-winning shot with one second left in overtime to give Lakeland Christian a 56-55 win at South Bend Community Baptist Tuesday night. McDaniel finished with a team-high 14 points for the Cougars. Lakeland Christian trailed 35-31 after three quarters before getting 14 points from five different players in the fourth period to force overtime. McDaniel scored seven points, including a three-pointer, in the extra four minutes. Carter Twombly had 13 points for LCA, with brother Landon adding 11 points. The win gives LCA its first two-game win streak in almost exactly two years. The Cougars beat Howe Military 48-32 and South Bend Career Academy 47-28 on Feb. 25 & 28, 2014, respectively. Lakeland Christian hasn’t won three in a row since joining the IHSAA in 2008-09. The Cougars (3-18) host Oregon-Davis Thursday night.
