LCA, Valley X-C Leads Roundup

The Tippecanoe Valley and Lakeland Christian Academy cross country teams took part in Thursday’s Goshen Invitational.
Running at Goshen’s Reith Interpretive Center, the area’s top finisher was Valley’s Brandon Maull, who finished third in the boys race with a time of 18:34.
For the girls, LCA’s Emilee Catron finished 26th in 23:34, followed immediately by Valley’s Robyn Erklin in 27th place, 23:39.
LCA will be at Tuesday’s Westview Invitational, while Valley isn’t back in action until the Aug. 25 Northfield Invitational, which LCA will also be a part of.

Thursday in Fort Wayne
The Manchester girls golf team fell 184-203 Thursday to Fort Wayne Canterbury at Fort Wayne’s Chestnut Hills Golf Club. In defeat, Manchester’s Lindsey Budnik was the medalist on the par-36 course, shooting a 42. The 1-3 Lady Squires return to the links Saturday for the Rochester Invitational at Mill Creek Golf Course.

The Whitko and Central Noble girls soccer teams played to a 2-2 tie Thursday in Albion. For Whitko, its goals came from Ellyana Blue and Cagney Craig, while Chloe Nestel had four saves in goal. The 0-0-1 Lady Wildcats host West Noble Saturday at 10 a.m.
