Justin Hartman is Lakeland Christian Academy's valedictorian for the class of 1999. Carolyn Lee is salutatorian.
Hartman, the son of Randy Hartman, Leesburg, and Scott and Toni Copenhaver, Columbus, graduates with a grade point average of 98.71.
While at LCA, Hartman has participated in soccer and basketball, served in student government and won the Jubal Award for music; received silver and gold LCA merit pins; was recognized as an ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student; was named a National Merit Scholar; and was nominated to "Who's Who Among American High School Students."
Harman was awarded the Trustees' Scholarship from Case Western University, the Selma McKrill Brown Scholarship from Lake City Bank, the Gasaway Education Fund Scholarship from National City Bank and a National Merit Scholarship.
He plans to attend Case Western Reserve University.
Lee, the daughter of David and Marcia Lee, Warsaw, graduates with a grade point average of 98.63.
She participated in school band and student government. She won the Jubal Award for music, the silver and gold LCA merit pins, was nominated to the National Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine and to Who's Who Among American High School Students, and was recognized as an ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student. She was named a National Merit Commended Scholar, was awarded the Grace College Presidential Merit Award and the Creighton Endowed Award, and the Selma McKrill Brown Scholarship from Lake City Bank. She plans to attend Grace College.
Marah Shaffer was selected as the 1999 Timothian. The Timothian Award is given to the senior who best exemplifies the biblical exhortation found in I Timothy 4:12, along with commendable academic achievement, school service and faithful attendance and punctuality throughout their career at LCA.
The daughter of Roger and Teresa Shaffer, Winona Lake, she has earned the Jubal Award for music, the silver and gold LCA merit pins, was nominated to Who's Who Among American HIgh School Students and is an ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student.
Shaffer received the Grace College Music Talent Scholarship for Voice and the Dane A. and Mary Louise Miller Merit Award from Grace College, the Selma McKrill Brown Scholarship from Lake City Bank and the Gasaway Education Fund Scholarship from National City Bank. She plans to attend Grace College.
