LCA Jr. High Drama Class Presents One-Acts

Posted
WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy’s Junior High Drama Class will present two fairy tale one-act plays Friday – “Straw Into Gold, The classic tale of Rumplestiltskin” by Sally Netzel and “Red vs. the Wolf” by Judy Wolfman.
“Straw Into Gold” has modern, witty language and hilarious characters that spice up this classic adaptation of Rumplestiltskin, according to a press release from LCA.
The beleaguered queen seeks to quell young Prince Philip’s infatuation with a kitchen maid, Melinda. But when the prince, who talks too much and too wildly (as a man in love will), boasts that Melinda can spin straw into gold, the queen sees this poor kitchen maid could be good for the kingdom after all, the release states. All seems well until their first child is born and disappears – into the clutches of the evil troll, Rumplestiltskin, whose name must be guessed to reverse the spell.
Everyone has  heard the story of Little Red Riding Hood. But how often has it been told from the wolf’s point of view?
“Yes, this kind, sensitive wolf is upset, for he has been maligned by society because of a story that has been repeated to generations of children. He is determined to tell the story as it really happened, of the true nature of Red Riding Hood and his own good intentions,” the release states. “Red vs. the Wolf” will show the audience that there are two sides to every story, according to the release.
Performances are Friday at 7 p.m.  Tickets will be sold at the door. Adults are $6, students and senior citizens $4, and preschoolers are free. Desserts will also be available on a donation basis.
