LCA Collecting Food For CCS

Posted
Combined Community Services of Kosciusko County is running low on food in their food pantry.

They currently have more than 100 families per week asking for assistance because of the economic downturn, and CCS is unable to meet the demand.

The Unleashing the Power of the Son Groups of Lakeland Christian Academy will mobilize Wednesday, rain or shine, to fill the pantry at CCS.

LCA's entire student body will scour Warsaw and Winona Lake neighborhoods between 1 and 3 p.m. to collect food. They'll be easy to see, they'll all wear bright yellow shirts.

Students from LCA will collect food in the following Warsaw and Winona Lake neighborhoods: Autumn Ridge, Barrington Hills, Blackberry Trace, Brookshire, Cherry Creek, Country Club Drive area, Deed's Creek, Deed's Creek Manor, The Dells, Fairlane Drive, Fox Run, the Grace Village/Lamp Post Manor area, Harrison Landing, Heritage Lakes, Hickory Estates, Hunter's Ridge, Lexington Park, Lincoln Park, The Meadows, Melody Acres, Old Farm, Patterson Place, Ponderosa, River Lawn, Shadow Lakes, Southtown Estates, Stone Camp, Stonehenge, Summerfield Estates, Timberline, Timber Ridge and Valley Springs. Those who do not live in one of those areas but want to contribute to CCS can call the school at 574-267-7265. LCA students will pick up the items.

Anyone who will not be home Wednesday afternoon can leave food items on their porch labeled "CCS" and LCA students will pick them up. Donations also are accepted at CCS and at the Lakeland Christian Academy office, 1093 S. CR 250E, Winona Lake.

CCS also requests gas cards so that clients can drive to job interviews and to work. To purchase gas cards, call the LCA office at 574-267-7265. Credit cards are accepted and a tax-deductible receipt will be sent to you.

UPS Groups are community service/discipleship groups from Lakeland Christian Academy that regularly serve at local schools, retirement communities and social service agencies.

CCS has requested the following food items: breakfast cereal, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, pancake mix (add water only), syrup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, pasta, fruit juice and soup.
