The personal representative of the estate of one of the women killed in a triple-fatal accident in August 2016 has sued the driver of the semi involved in the crash and UPS.
Stephen Harrants filed the suit seeking unspecifed damages for the death of Navedita Bhambhani, a passenger in a van that collided with a semi.
Three people were killed in the van-semi collision. Harrants’ suit is the only lawsuit from the accident filed as of Friday evening.
Bhambhani, of Forest Hills, N.Y., was flown to Parkview Hospital, Fort?Wayne, where she died the next morning.
Ramesh Chand, 70, Elmhurst, N.Y., and Subhash Sood, 69, Fort Wayne, also passengers in the van, were killed in the crash.
The complaint filed Tuesday seeks unspecifed damages for the accident claiming that both UPS and the driver of the semi, Robert Buesching, 52, Fort Wayne, were responsible for the crash.
The complaint does not give details as why the driver and the company are responsible.
The van was traveling east on U.S. 30. The driver of the van, Samita Sood, 37,?Fort Wayne, turned north on to Ind. 19 to get fuel for the van.
Witnessness told officers Samita Sood had a flashing yellow traffic light and proceeded to turn when she turned right into the path of westbound UPS semi-trailer, according to a crash report from the Kosciusko?County Sheriff’s Department.
The witnesses also said Buesching had a green light, the report states.
Samita Sood and another passenger, Archana Sud, 60, Brampton, Canada, were injured in the crash.
