LIGONIER – LaVon D. “Mose” Shrock, 50, Topeka, passed away unexpectedly following an illness resulting from a stroke in 2014. He was born March 24, 1965, to Moses and Mary Etta Mishler Shrock, Elkhart. On Oct. 30, 2010, he married Rachael Yoder-Thomas, who survives. He was an incredibly hard worker and owned and operated LaVon’s Lawn Care for 20 years. He grew up attending Emma Mennonite Church and was currently a member of Topeka United Methodist Church and the Elks. He was a caretaker of Eden Cemetery for many years. He loved sports and never gave up on the Cubs. He enjoyed playing golf, being outdoors, visiting Florida and going to the Indy 500 every year. Also surviving are three siblings: Lorene (and spouse Greg) Shrock and LaMar (and spouse Lisa) Shrock, all of Topeka, and Leon Shrock, Wolcottville; Rachael’s children, Desiree Carnahan and Sarah Mae (and spouse Gabe) Howard; a niece, Andrea (and spouse Courtney) Miller; and a nephew, Austin Shrock. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier, with Pastor Dianna Siegel officiating.
