GOSHEN – Lavern E. Becher, 84, died in his daughter’s residence Jan. 4, 2012, after a short illness.
He was born May 26, 1927, in New Carlisle, to George Jacob Edward and Hulda Berron Becher. On June 15, 1951, in Woodland, he married Charlotte R. Simison, who died Dec. 20, 2001.
He worked as a foreman at Liberty Homes, Syracuse, until retiring in 1989. After retirement he delivered The Paper in Milford.
Surviving are three daughters, including Pamela (and spouse David) Pollock, Milford; four grandchildren; and two sisters, including Dorothy Starner, Claypool. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mishwaka. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Woodland.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Yoder-Culp, Goshen. ***** Memorials may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
