Laura Shepherd, 63, passed away at 2:04 p.m. Sept. 30, 2016, at Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center. She was born June 28, 1953, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Ershell and Mable Boggs Calhoun. On Dec. 6, 1975, in Packerton, she married Eddie Ray Shepherd. She spent most of her life in the Warsaw area, and lived in Lakeland for the past 11 years. She was a greeter at Walmart in Warsaw and in Florida. She was very social. Her grandsons were the light of her life. She loved to visit Indiana and always made time to visit Shipshewana. She liked to play cards and occasionally tried her luck at gambling. Survivors include a daughter, Brandy (and spouse Sharice) Lawrence, Lakeland; two grandsons, Isaiah Lawrence and DeMarcus Lawrence, both of Lakeland; five sisters: Verline Nichols, Prestonsburg; Birdie (and spouse Ray) Wolfe, Pierceton; Verva McCorkle, North Manchester; Pat Whitaker, Warsaw; and Jessica Calhoun, Glasgow, Ky.; two brothers, Lester (and spouse Katherine) Calhoun and John (and spouse Teresa) Calhoun, both of Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Eddie Ray Shepherd, on Aug. 22, 2007; two brothers, Taylor Calhoun and Thomas Calhoun; and her parents, Ershell and Mable Calhoun. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, with Pastor Taylor Whitaker, Connections Outreach Ministries, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
