NAPPANEE – Laura Mae Helmuth, 80, of 25198 CR 54, Nappanee, died from complications of cancer at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 16, 2011, in her residence. She was ill for four months.
She was born April 5, 1931, in Elkhart County, to Emanuel L. and Rosa C. Hochstetler Burkholder. On Oct. 14, 1954, in Nappanee, she married Elmer Helmuth, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Also surviving are a son, Stephen Joe (and spouse Ruth) Helmuth, Milford; two daughters, Carol Rose Helmuth and Kristine Ann Helmuth, both of Nappanee; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Dorothy Yoder, Centerville, Mich.; Tressie Otto, Etna Green; and Mary Mast, Elkhart. She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Merlin Yoder residence, 25115 CR 54, with Bishop Eli Lehman and Home Ministry of Old Order Amish Church officiating. Burial will be in West Union Center Cemetery.
Calling is after 2 p.m. today and all day Thursday at the Merlin Yoder residence.
