Larwill Man Critical after Sunday Accident

Posted
SILVER LAKE – A Larwill man is in critical condition after being ejected from his vehicle during an early Sunday morning crash in Kosciusko County.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded today at 12:36 a.m. to a report of crash on Ind. 14 near the intersection of Packerton Road. The driver, Jeffery Reiff, 25, Larwill, was located outside of his vehicle and was immediately airlifted by Samaritan helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne and is in critical condition.
Reiff’s passenger, Brian Lardino, 25, Silver Lake, was transported from the scene to Kosciusko Community Hospital in fair condition.
Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team members determined that Reiff’s vehicle had been eastbound on Ind. 14 and had left the south side of the roadway near the Packerton Road intersection. Reiff overcorrected his vehicle, causing it to skid to the north side of Ind. 14, striking an embankment.
The vehicle went airborne and struck a utility pole, causing it to overturn several times, landing on its top and ejecting Reiff who was not wearing a seatbelt. Lardino was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
FACT members stated that the crash is still under investigation pending legal alcohol/drug lab results. Reiff was still listed in critical condition at the time of the release. Officers believe that speed and alcohol were factors in Sunday morning’s crash.
