SYRACUSE – Larry Snyder, 52, Fort Wayne, passed away March 4, 2015, in Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 4, 1963, in Fort Wayne.
He attended St. John Baptist School in New Haven through the eighth grade. He then moved to the North Webster area, where he attended Wawasee High School.
He went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was part of the Special Operations Air Search and Rescue. He attended college while in the service specializing in metallurgy.
After being honorably discharged, he became active in the U.S. Auto Club, where he used his expertise as a metallurgist at the Indy 500 inspecting the rims of the race cars for several years. He worked at Zimmer in the late 1980s doing non-destructive testing.
He enjoyed SCUBA and skydiving, boating and fishing. He was a big fan of Bob Knight and I.U. basketball.
He is survived by his daughter, Adrianna ‘Annie’ Snyder; his parents, Denzel and Mary Ann (Tyler) Archer; siblings, Terrance “Terry” (and Jutta) Snyder, Elizabeth “Lisa” (and Chuck) Miller, Kevin (and Lori) Archer and Kenny (and Jamie) Archer; several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded by his father, Neil Snyder.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eastlund Funeral Home with Father Richard Hire officiating. Burial is in Mock Addition of North Webster Cemetery with full military honors.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
