AKRON – Larry L. Floor, 82, of Akron, died at 1:52 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. He was born April 21, 1936, in Miami County, to Earl D. and June A. Smith Floor.
On June 9, 1957, in the Disko United Methodist Church, he was married to Margaret Ann Landis, who survives.
In earlier years, he worked for Sonoco Products Company of Akron for 18 years, retiring in 1974. He then owned and operated a Holstein dairy farm for 24 years, 4 months and 4½ days. He also drove a school bus for Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 2010. In more recent years, he has baled and delivered hay on his farm.
He graduated from Akron High School in 1956 where he met and then married his high school sweetheart and classmate, Ann. Larry attended the Silver Creek Church of God. He was fond of his head-turning 1957 Chevy Bel Air four-door hardtop and was known to drive it in the Fourth of July parade if he wasn’t driving his matching golf cart or his 1957 John Deere 720. He enjoyed watching Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball where he had season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed going to the Honeywell Center to see many different performances. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially the Floor Reunion Fish Fry.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Floor, Akron; children: Deborah Floor, Claypool; Mark (and wife Beverly) Floor, Akron; Nancy Rans, Akron; grandsons, Travis Rans and Jesse Floor; sister, Sharon Floor, Akron; brother, Michael (and wife Claudette) Floor, Westfield; brothers-in-law: Jim Bucher, Akron; Bennie French, North Manchester; Max Thompson Sr., Claypool.
He was preceded by his parents; sisters, E. Joan Bucher, Deloris Thompson and Karen French; and a son-in-law, Daniel Rans.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Pastor Thomas Craig will officiate.
Burial will be at Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Hartzler Funeral Home Akron.
