The Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship, founder and sponsor of the international annual MasterWorks Festival, is preparing to begin another season of its Second Sunday Series concerts. According to a press release, “These free monthly concerts always promise an elegant night filled with classical performances of music, song and theatrical presentations and this month the crew of performers at CPAF are joined by professional violist Theresa Langdon of the Indianapolis Symphony.” Langdon has been involved in the world of music for many years and holds degrees in music performance from both Indiana University and Yale University. She has taught with many groups including MasterWorks Festival, Quattro String Academy, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, New World Youth Orchestra and Anderson University String Camp. She is the vice president of the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale, the oldest music club in the nation. She is also a founding member and performer in the Linden String Quarter with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The concert pieces including Langdon will be “Elegie” by composer Alexander Glazunov as well as “Trio in D Major” by composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Joining her for the trio will be cellist Barbara Kavanaugh and flutist Arturo Osorio, both of whom are professional musicians with music degrees and awards, the press release states. In addition to these pieces, the concert will also include a performance by Erin Mills, a graduate of Indiana University who will be performing a vocal presentation of “Stars and the Moon” by Jason Robert Brown; a theatrical scene by actors Tiffany Rott and Cody R. Arn from the show “Saint Joan” by playwright George Bernard Shaw; and “Sonata for Trumpet and Piano” by composer Paul Hindemith and performed by trumpeter Nicholas Whitchurch. Pianists Chara Sonntag and Yeon-Kyung Kim, each of whom hold master’s degrees in music, also will join the performers onstage as both collaborative pianists and soloists. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Rodeheaver Auditorium on the corner of Park Avenue and Ninth Street in Winona Lake. The Second Sunday Series is free and open to the public, maintaining works of classical repertoire and a unique atmosphere of worship. The Second Sunday Series is a monthly tradition going back nearly 10 years.
