Land Use Plan Passed By Plan Commission

Posted

The Land Use Plan passed the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission Wednesday.

The plan was developed by Tanya Ford, assistant county planner, and county residents in an attempt to not only help conserve agricultural land but to provide room for residential and industrial expansion as well.

The plan states: "This ordinance was developed to create a balance of land uses in the county. To prohibit any new development from occurring in the county would not only be a violation of the rights of Kosciusko County's residents, but detrimental to the county as a whole. However, development without regard to the preservation of land would be just as foolish. Both farming and the development of land are two viable pieces of our county's economy."

Ford said, "I'm not going to say everyone will be happy with everything in it," but she is confident in the plan.

The plan will go before the Kosciusko County Commissioners May 26 at 10 a.m. for final approval.
