MOUNT VERNON, OHIO - After starting the season 2-0, Grace College's men's basketball team dropped its second straight with a 62-52 Friday loss to Trinity Christian (Ill.) in the Mt. Vernon Nazarene Tournament.
The 2-2 Lancers hit but 21 of 56 field goal attempts (38 percent), although Trinity Christian wasn't much better at 19 of 49 (39 percent). But Trinity Christian won the game at the free-throw line, making 23 of 32 (72 percent) free throws, while Grace made 5 of 11 (46 percent). Trinity Christian hit 19 of 26 in the second half.
Trinity Christian forward Kevin Koeman led all scorers with 14 points. Guard Ben Tonagel led Grace with 13 points, but he made just 5 of 18 field goals (28 percent). Two Grace starters, Lawrence Burnett and Tonagel, fouled out. Trinity Christian improved to 2-2.
