WINONA LAKE -ÊOn the heels of an exceptional performance at Taylor University last weekend, the Grace College men's cross country team jumped into the NAIA top 25 at No. 16, the highest ranking the team ever has received.
In the preseason poll, the Lancers received just one vote, but after defeating then-No. 6 Huntington by almost 50 points at Taylor University, the voters took notice of Grace. Huntington dropped out of the top 25 and received just two votes in this poll. The Lancers beat Huntington despite being without two of their top runners at the meet.
The Lancers are the second-highest rated team in the MCC, trailing No. 7 Taylor, a perennial NAIA power. Life (Ga.) is ranked No. 1 and received all nine first-place votes.
Grace is competing at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet in Bloomington this weekend in an attempt to continue to climb the national rankings.
