LaMora May Longyear, 93, of Claypool, died at 9:40 p.m. March 4, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Noble County, to Henry and Chloe Renkenberger Butler. On Jan. 1, 1942, in Warsaw, she married J. Elmer Longyear, who died Nov. 14, 1999.

She lived in Noble County until 1940 when she moved to Kosciusko County. She graduated from Churubusco High School in 1938, and Manchester College with a bachelor's degree. She retired from Warsaw Community Schools in 1982, after teaching elementary eduction for 38 years. She served in the following schools: Wawaka, Leesburg, Sidney, Pierceton, Claypool and Washington. She was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Peace Circle at the church, Kosciusko Retired Teachers, Klio Club and Jolly Homemakers.

Surviving are a son, Ron Longyear (and fiance Claudia Brown), Leesburg; a daughter, Liz Surface, Silver Lake; two granddaughters, Lisa (and spouse Douglas) Harvey, Warsaw, and Rhonda (and spouse John) Nichols, Claypool; and two great-granddaughters, Natalie and Ashley Nichols. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Knoop, and a son-in-law, David Surface.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Warsaw, with Pastors Dr. Phillip Rogers and Erik Ohman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
