Lakeview Runners Impress At NELMSC MeetA pair of Lakeview Middle School students impressed at Saturday’s NELMSC cross country meet, held at Wawasee Middle School. Eighth-grade Lakeview student Eduardo Calderon took first place with a time of 10:05, which was 17 seconds faster than the second-place finisher and set a new course record in the process. It was the third course record he set this season, and he is the new record-holder as the fastest runner at Lakeview. The first-year runner has excelled this year, going undefeated, which includes the state meet. Calderon plans to continue running track this spring and cross country next fall at the high school. Also from Lakeview, seventh-grade student William Robison ran the race of his life Saturday and came in third overall at the NELMSC meet. Robison eclipsed his personal best time on the Wawasee course by 24 seconds and raced past a pack of Wawasee runners right at the finish line. Robison will be a strong leader for the Lakeview team next season and is looking forward to running at the high school as well.
