Posted
Lakeview Middle School students were part of the 2,193,284 students in 4,142 schools in 45 countries that participated in the 2015 Great Kindness Challenge. By participating in The Great Kindness Challenge during Jan. 26-30, the school was part of a global kindness movement. Students participated in week-long activities that focused and reflected on kindness. On Monday, they participated in creating “Handprints of Kindness” that will be displayed at Dignity Health Hospitals in California. This global initiative is working towards a New Guinness World Record for the Largest Collage of Handprints in the World. Students were asked to do five random acts of kindness and document them through photographs. The reflection piece will be a Prezi presentation that captures the memories and significant of kindness – complete with an original poem and photo documentation with captions. They also were required to perform an act of kindness that would affect their immediate family. The week ended with the creation of “Caring Hearts” for the teachers and staff at the school. Each heart contained an uplifting thought and heart-felt message of kindness to each individual who helps inspire students to reach their dreams and potential. For Lakeview Middle School’s participation in The Great Kindness Challenge, the school has been recognized as a “Kindness Certified School.”
