NORTH WEBSTER – Lakeland Regional Sewer District on Thursday set the dates for two summer meetings with users and contractors. The meetings, on July 23 and Aug. 27, will be used to share specifications for electrical and sewer hookup. Both meetings are at 9 a.m. in the North Webster Community Center. Board members said at previous meetings that they can provide homeowners with a list of contractors who attend the summer sessions so they know who’s up to speed on the requirements for system connection. Also Thursday, the board approved pay applications of $519,955 for Section A of the project, $277,904 for Section B, $642,589 for Section C and $204,077 for construction of the wastewater treatment plant. Board members then approved several change orders for the treatment plant which Casey Erwin, with project engineer DLZ, said he inspected and feels are justified. The list of additions and deductions together added up to $44,881, but after deductions made in previous change orders, Erwin said the actual over-budget amount is only about $13,000, a fraction of 1 percent of the project total. District Treasurer Mike DeWald reported during the meeting that the State Board of Accounts recently finished a four-year audit of the district after the state agency “pulled our name out of a hat.” The SBA came away with a clean opinion on all four years, he said. And board member John McDaniel reported that the new district website is up and running at lakelandrsd.com. Board members have expressed an interest in using the site to keep customers updated on construction progress and sharing other news.
