PIERCETON - Lakeland Art Association celebrated the grand opening of its new gallery Friday night.
After a stint in Warsaw and across the street in Pierceton, the art association found its new home at 107 N. First St.
According to Board of Directors President Melodie Koher, the new home will be home for a long time after moving in Sept. 1.
Lakeland Art Association has 67 member artists and at any time can be displaying up to 10 artists at its gallery.
Friday night's event wasn't just to show off the new gallery, but to also bring people to look at what Lakeland Art Association has to offer.
Koher said the mission is to educate the community about visual arts.
And that includes photography, painting and sculptures.
All of those art forms were on display Friday night as well as jewelry made by members. All of the items were for sale.
After a ribbon cutting, a wine and cheese reception followed.
Lakeland Art Association was founded in 1957 by a group of night school students under the instruction of Fred Olds.
