Lady Wildcats Win On Senior NightSOUTH WHITLEY – On senior night, Whitko High School’s varsity girls basketball team got plenty of production from its six seniors. In a 54-42 win over visiting Norwell Thursday, the Class 2A No. 1 Lady Wildcats got 40 points out of its seniors. Xavier University signee Aly Reiff led the way with 15 points, while classmates Hanna Yohe and Brianna Cumberland scored 12 and seven points, respectively. Other Whitko seniors to score in the win included Haley Yohe (4 points) and Kennedy Krull (2 points). Sophomores Emalee Duggins and Ellie Snep scored six points each, while freshman Brielle Harrison rounded out the Lady Wildcats’ offense with two points. Whitko led 16-12 after one quarter of play, 29-20 at halftime and 40-32 at the end of the third quarter. Kaylee Roller led Norwell with 16 points, while Logan Rowles chipped in with 15 points. With the 12-point win, Whitko improved to 15-2 on the season, while Norwell fell to 10-7. Thursday’s victory was Whitko’s first win over the Wildcats since Jan. 10, 2008. The Lady Wildcats had won just one of their previous 12 meetings with Norwell. Norwell won the JV game 41-21. Sophomore Lilly Owsley led the Lady Wildcats with eight points. Whitko puts its 4-0 Three Rivers Conference record on the line Saturday with a trip to Wabash County to play Southwood.
