Lady Wildcats Dominate County RivalSOUTH WHITLEY – A dominating performance in the second and third quarters Saturday night helped the Whitko Lady Wildcats complete a weekend sweep of their Whitley County rivals. A night after winning 59-55 at Columbia City, Whitko, ranked No. 1 in the state in the latest Class 2A poll, outscored Churubusco 33-8 in the middle two frames and cruised to a 59-25 home victory. Whitko led 8-5 after eight minutes of action and then drilled the Lady Eagles 17-4 in the second stanza and 16-4 in the third quarter to take a commanding 41-13 lead into the fourth. Freshman Brielle Harrison led the Lady Wildcats with a game-high 16 points, while senior Aly Reiff and junior Anna Ousley scored 10 and eight points, respectively. Stacia Foster and Brein Gross led Churubusco with seven and six points, respectively. Whitko, now 4-0 on the season, opens Three Rivers Conference play Tuesday when it hosts Peru. Churubusco is now 1-1 and hosts Lakeland Christian Academy Tuesday.
