Lady Trojans Win Softball Sectional

Posted
BOURBON — The Triton softball didn’t get too much resistance in getting its second-straight sectional title Tuesday night at home.
After defeating Bethany Christian 4-0 in Monday’s semifinal, the Triton Lady Trojans took care of Hamilton 10-0 in five innings Tuesday, claiming its third ever sectional crown.
Triton moves on to regional action Tuesday at 7 p.m., where it will play at the winner of tonight’s Sectional 51 title game between South Central and LaCrosse.
In claiming the Sectional 52 title, Triton (22-6) plated a run in the first, then three in both the second and third, before getting the last three runs needed for the mercy rule to go into effect in the bottom of the fifth.
All-time strikeouts leader Mallorie Jennings added nine more to her career numbers, while allowing just one hit and walking one in five innings of work.
Megan Berger had a 3-for-3 game at the plate, driving in one run, while Hannah Jennings, Mallorie Jennings, Krystal Sellers, Allyson Brown and Zoe Stephan each had two hits.
