CULVER – After Triton’s Lady Trojans blew out Culver Community 66-19, the boys team lost in overtime to the Cavaliers 39-35 in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday night. In the girls game, Triton shot out to a 14-7 lead after the first quarter and expanded the lead to 32-9 by halftime. Sophomore Hannah Wanemacher paced the Lady Trojans with 18 points, while senior Jaela Meister tossed in 16 and freshman Charlotte Morris added 14. Senior Shayla May had nine rebounds to go with her three points. Triton remains in first place in the HNAC at 7-0 and improved to 8-11 overall. The Lady Trojans host New Prairie in the opening round of the Bi-county Tournament at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Triton boys led 25-20 before Culver mounted a fourth-quarter comeback and forced overtime. The Cavaliers outscored their guests 8-4 in the extra period for the win. Triton had a very cold shooting night, hitting only 13 of 42 shots from the field (31 percent), missing on all 16 three-point attempts and hitting only nine free throws in 18 tries. Jordan Anderson and Zac Pitney had seven points each to tie for team-high honors. Now 2-2 in the conference and 7-5 overall, the Trojans also take on New Prairie in their Bi-County Tournament opener Tuesday night after the girls game.
