KNOX – Triton got off to a fast start in the first-ever Hoosier North Athletic Conference girls tennis tournament on Wednesday, winning all five of its opening matches in straight sets. In a strange twist of coincidence, all of the Lady Trojans are top seeds in their divisions, and all were opposed by players from North Judson, all of whom were seeded fourth. Shalyla May needed just 13 games to win at No. 1 singles, and Kolbie Mason shut out her opponent at No. 2 singles. Quinn Downing won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Hannah Wanemaker and Emma Ross won in the minimum 12 games at No. 1 doubles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Tatum Thompson and Megan McFarland won 6-2, 6-1. Play in the tournament is expected to resume today.
