Lady Trojans Headline Roundup With Win Over New Prairie

NEW CARLISLE – Kylie Mason led three Lady Trojans in double figures with 18 points in Triton’s 51-28 win at New Prairie. Jaela Meister had 14 and Becca Kennedy 13 in the winning cause. The Lady Trojans led 27-13 at halftime and expanded the lead to 41-17 by the end of three quarters. Mason had four treys in the game, and Kennedy added three more field goals from beyond the arc. Triton will play a pair of home games this weekend, hosting Culver Community Friday night and Oregon-Davis Saturday night. Tuesday in Winona Lake Rachel Sand tossed in 19 points and gathered eight rebounds in Lakeland Christian Academy’s 49-41 victory over Cornerstone Christian. Hannah Delp scored nine points for the Lady Cougars, while Melissa Goss added eight points. Carissa Urschalitz led LCA with nine rebounds to go with her five points. Maryl Gerst and Joselyn Helton had four points each. Now 5-10 on the season, the Lady Cougars will travel to Culver Academy for a 7:30 p.m. Friday game.
Tuesday in Syracuse Wawasee could not overcome a slow offensive start in a 40-22 loss to Columbia City. The Lady Warriors didn’t score in the first quarter and were down 23-6 at halftime. With the win Columbia City now has its second eight-game winning streak of the season and a 16-3 overall record. The Lady Warriors were led by Hannah Haines and Kylee Rostochak with six points each. Allyssa Flores and Aubrey Schmeltz added five points each for Wawasee. Next up for the Lady Warriors is a Northern Lakes Conference contest with Elkhart Memorial at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Syracuse. Tuesday in Marion Nate Walpole scored 17 points and Cole Kessie added a dozen in Whitko’s 68-49 loss at Eastbrook. The Wildcats got off to a 18-10 first quarter lead, but trailed 30-27 at halftime. Eastbrook outscored Whitko 21-6 in the third period to effectively put the game away. Whitko will take a 1-9 record into its Three Rivers Conference game with Southwood at 7:45 p.m. Friday. Gymnastics Tuesday in Kendallville Warsaw fell to East Noble 98.35-89.00 in the first gymnastics competition of the year for the Lady Tigers. Jazzmine Brown finished second in the all-around, second on the vault and tied for first on the balance beam. Katie Richard finished fourth on the balance beam, and Shannon winslow finished fourth on the bars and fourth on the vault. The Lady Tigers are at the Elkhart Central Invitational on Saturday.
Tuesday in Angola Wawasee beat Angola 93.775-78.850 in the Lady Warriors first dual meet of the season. Freshman Reagan Atwood finished first in the all-around, the vault and beam. Sophomore Haleigh Smarr finished second in the floor exercise. The Lady Warriors will travel to Huntertown to take on Carroll on Thursday.
