After a tough loss Friday night, and facing an 11-point deficit, sixth-ranked Triton rallied to outscore second-ranked Oregon-Davis 24-4 in the final period to earn a 60-47 win in the Triton Trench. Becca Kennedy led the Lady Trojan effort, hitting four three-pointers on her way to a game-high 25 points. Jaela Meister added 15 points and Kylie Mason 13 for Triton. Kennedy also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Triton overcame 11 three-pointers from the Lady Bobcats by hitting 17 of 22 free throws. Oregon-Davis made half of their four charity shots. Next up for Triton, now 11-6, is a visit to LaVille in the opening round of the Bi-County Tournament at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. With a win, the Lady Trojans would take on the Argos at Culver Community winner Thursday at 6:30. Swimming Saturday in Middlebury Wawasee finished second and Warsaw sixth in the Northern Lakes Conference girls swimming championships Saturday afternoon at Northridge High School in Middlebury. The host team won with 461 points, with the Lady Warriors at 424 points, and Concord third at 377. Warsaw had 166 points. The Lady Warriors’ set a new NLC record in the 400 freestyle relay. The quartet of Kendra Miller, Kayla Hershberger, Paige Miller and Breanna Robinson completed the distance in 3:34.73, beating the old record by nearly three-and-a-half seconds. Paige Miller was a double champion in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500 freestyle, while Robinson earned gold in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Shelby Adams set a new school record. Her time of 1:10.48 was good for fourth place. She also finished third in the 200 freestyle. The foursome of the Millers, Robinson and Mikala Mawhorter won the 200 freestyle race, and all six swimmers were named All-NLC. Anna Park earned honorable mention with her performance in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle races. Warsaw’s Brenna Morgan earned a pair of wins, taking the 50 freestyle in a school-record 24.07 seconds, and in the 100 freestyle. She was also named to the all-conference team. The postseason continues February 5 with sectionals for both teams. Wawasee will return to Northridge for the sectional there, while Warsaw hosts its own sectional. Wrestling Saturday in Kokomo Wawasee went 1-4 as a team in the Western Super Duals, losing to Winamac, Peru, Western and Wabash and beating Pioneer 48-21. Tristan Ponsler went 5-0 in the tournament for the Warriors. Rodney Shortt, Zach Ford and Stephen Possell each earned four wins on the day. Next up for the Warriors is the Northern Lakes Conference tournament at Elkhart Memorial on Saturday. Gymnastics Saturday in Elkhart Warsaw placed fourth in the five-team East-West Invitational at Elkhart Central. Jazzmine Brown finished eighth in the uneven bars for the Lady Tigers. The team will host Homestead at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.
